News Reports Use Language Biased Toward Gun-Control
Habits of the Tongue Flow Out of Habits of the Mind, But the Tongue Can Also Train the Mind
Be careful and notice the language used, how it tends to be sloppy and biased toward gun-control advocacy.
Reports reference "the shooter" or "a gunman" when they should use the term "assassin" or "murderer." Folks, the murderer was killed by a gunman, because a gunman is a person with a gun. (duh). The murderer (italicized) was killed by a shooter (italicized), because a shooter is someone who shoots.
Let's be real careful about adopting sloppy language patterns biased toward only the government having guns , while implying the mere possession of a gun in civilian hands is a crime. No, the possession of a firearm in civilian hands is not a crime, the crime is attempted murder, and murder, assault with a deadly weapon, disturbing the peace. These are moral terms, with the weight of the natural law behind them.
It's like when pro-lifers adopt pro-choice language about how old someone is, counting only from birth. Sloppy use of language is a huge component in a country that increasingly can't think effectively. If one can't think effectively, one can't solve problems going forward, either. Habits of the tongue flow out of habits of the mind, and habits of the tongue can help train the mind as well, increasing our accuracy in solving problems that need to be solved, problems like a country that thinks killing millions of unborn babies is no big deal, or even a right , or thinking that only the government should have guns or shooters, outlawing effective self-defense for normal people confronting crime.

I read a news article that the assassin was asked not to try out ever again for the school rifle club- yes, some high schools still have them in Western Pennsylvania. The reason? He was an awful shot and could be a danger to club.
We have to realize, at twenty, the assassin was a mixed up kid with reported mental illness. I find it all tragic.
