45 Democratic US senators have pressured the National Archives to publish the Equal Rights Amendment, which was defeated decades ago when I was a child.

Leading the successful effort then to defeat it was one Phyllis Schlafly, the indefatigable woman that this podcast (The Republican Professor Podcast) profiled with her biographer, Carol Felsenthal. That episode was published in the summer of 2023.

The national archivist told the Democrats in Congress and in the administration to pound sand, thank God. The Equal Rights Amendment, an Orwellian title if there ever was one (it could as accurately be called The Clean Air Amendment), remains appropriately defeated.
